Stardust: NASA's comet sample return mission

This website proves that scientists find it worthwhile to study comets. NASA set up a special website with the central theme of comets. Launched from Cape Canaveral in 1997, Stardust is the first US space mission dedicated to the exploration of comets and the first uncrewed mission to return unknown material from such a comet to Earth.

Via the website we learn more about the matter from which such a comet is made. In addition, collecting a sample of interstellar dust from our solar system will help us learn more about the structure of solar systems in general. In this way we also gain more insight into the evolution of the sun, the planets around it and possibly also about the origin of life itself.

You will learn everything about this mission on the basis of films Stardust theaters and Stardust animations . In addition, a webcam is provided Live From Johnson Space Center where you can watch the scientists at work.
