Lingua Podium: Immersion education

Lingua Podium is an association of teachers who have taught or taught in the immersion education in the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.

Language learning in a fun way is the motto of Lingua Podium and this offers the university all schools in immersion or language bathing in the province of Liège. It is an artistic and creative challenge in Dutch, German or English.

Maison de Langues of the Liège Province and Taalunie Center NV supports this initiative.

During the school year 2011-2012 a first project was set up. It used to be the name Dutch Podium and gave the opportunity to use more than 2,500 pupils from the third children's class to the sixth secondary, to use the target language and to present a song, a play, sketches or a dialogue in Vondel's language on a free stage. With the help of their teachers, they could enrich their vocabulary, improve their pronunciation, work on more complicated sentence structures and use a foreign language with conviction.

In view of the success of this event, the members unanimously decided to extend this project to other target languages ​​within immersion education in Liège province, namely German and English, from the school year 2012-2013. Therefore, a name change was selected from the Dutch Podium to Lingua Podium.

Every year, students are encouraged to present their artistry in their target language during the Lingua Podium Party .

The challenge is to convince the jury, experts in the target language in 10 to 15 minutes, and win the cup.

The winners receive books, DVDs, CDs or a prize with the support of several partners who are behind our project.
