Museum Huis Doorn: Discover the story of Emperor Wilhelm II in exile

Huis Doorn in Utrecht owes its fame to the former German emperor Wilhelm II. Wilhelm flight after the German defeat in World War I to the neutral Netherlands and occupy this property on the Utrecht Ridge from 1920 until his death in 1941. He surrounds himself in Doorn with personal objects that recall the past: art, silver, furniture and carpets that reflect centuries of royal German history.

The interior of Huis Doorn comes from imperial palaces in Berlin and Potsdam. Precious furniture, paintings and silver make the princely asylum seeker possible to continue living at his position. They form a backdrop of European stature. Against this takes place, in the small village Doorn, a court protocol in pocket off daily.

This imperial residence in exile is now a museum. The original interior is still intact and offers visitors an authentic picture of international royal residence. The House has three floors and 12 rooms that are all accessible.
