Refugees and migration: Lesbundel for 6 to 9 year olds

This bundle is part of the curriculum about refugees, asylum and migration from UNHCR, the United Nations refugee agency.

This bundle is suitable for 6 to 9 year olds and allows children in the lower grades of primary education to meet refugees and migrants.

More complex learning material that, for example, explains the Refugee Convention, or the difference between refugees, migrants, internally displaced persons and other people on the run, is deliberately avoided. The emphasis is on developing emotional and social skills in the lowest grades of primary education.

Children learn to meet each other in different ways, they learn to know other languages and cultures. Pupils also have to empathize with the situation of newcomers in the class who speak a different language and come from a different culture. In addition, the bundle contains a few tips to record a few house rules in a diverse class and to provide a quiet, constructive learning environment.
