40. Split numbers: ICT on the menu

In the first year the addition and subtraction is practiced to 20. There are different types of exercises. The basis for all these calculation exercises lies in the smooth and correct splitting of the numbers up to 10. This occurs both on a concrete and a schematic level. Students practice with different number images, auxiliary materials and schematic representations. The practice of this knowledge has to be repeated through different forms of exercise until one experiences it as an automatism. Here, too, ICT can make a contribution.

Via Excel © and PowerPoint © a new way of practicing is offered. The pupil experiences this as a new challenge and will also get the necessary motivation from it. The visualization of splitting and immediate feedback is an added value in this way of practicing.
