Hardware: de fysieke componenten bij een computer
Hardware is al het tastbare in en rond een computer(systeem): alle fysieke componenten die een rol spelen in een computer. De term wordt gebruikt als tegenhanger van software. Hardware kan je onderverdelen in twee groepen, enerzijds de interne componenten en anderzijds de externe componenten of randapparatuur.
De interne componenten zijn geïntegreerd in de computer en kunnen los van de computer niet werken. Enkele voorbeelden zijn:
- netvoeding,
- processor,
- moederbord,
- harde schijf,
- insteekkaart,
- SSD,
- intern geheugen.
De externe componenten of de randapparatuur is de hardware die gebruikt wordt om een computer geschikt te maken voor een bepaalde taak. Er zijn heel veel verschillende soorten randapparatuur:
- toetsenborden,
- monitor of beeldscherm,
- USB-sticks,
- cd-rom-, dvd-, blu-rayspelers en -schrijvers,
- computermuizen,
- speakers,
- printers,
- scanners,
- webcam,
- projectoren.
