Dopjesactie brengt blindengeleidehonden onder de aandacht: doet jouw school mee?
De afgelopen jaren werden er in België duizenden kilo's plastic dopjes verzameld. Dat betekent dat de inzamelaars er samen voor gezorgd hebben dat het Belgisch Centrum voor Geleidehonden (BCG) ongeveer 37 honden kon aanschaffen en opleiden tot geleide hond voor slechtzienden. De aanschaf en de opleiding van een geleide hond kost ongeveer evenveel als de opbrengst die ontstaat uit het recycleren van 77.500 kg dopjes.
Nationale dopjesweek
Sinds 1990 helpt het BCG slechtzienden bij het betalen van hun geleidehond. De helft van de financiering gebeurt door de overheid, de andere helft door de organisatie. Om dit te kunnen realiseren heeft het centrum nood aan sympathisanten die zich willen inzetten voor inzamelacties en het zoeken van sponsors. Een van de best gekende acties is de nationale dopjesweek. Je kan die week gebruiken om thema's al blindheid, slechtziendheid of leven met een beperking onder de aandacht te brengen.
