Hoogbegaafdheid is een persoonskenmerk dat bij 2 à 3 % van de bevolking voorkomt, afhankelijk van de gehanteerde definitie. Intelligentie is een essentieel onderdeel, maar hoogbegaafdheid is méér dan alleen een hoog IQ. Gedrevenheid, autonomie, creativiteit, sensitiviteit zijn ook aspecten.
Kennis over hoogbegaafdheid
De Week van de Hoogbegaafdheid brengt het onderwerp positief onder de aandacht. De organisatoren willen kennis over hoogbegaafdheid verspreiden en vooroordelen en misvattingen proberen weg te nemen. Want hoogbegaafdheid is een woord dat niet bij iedereen positieve gedachten oproept. Mede hierdoor kunnen hoogbegaafden niet altijd en overal zichzelf zijn en hun talenten optimaal inzetten. En dat is enorm jammer, want hoogbegaafden hebben de maatschappij veel te bieden. Daarom dus deze week met een positieve insteek!
